Chimney Flaunching

Ensuring safety for your chimney

Chimney flaunching is a strong, sloped layer of mortar at the top of a chimney stack that securely holds the chimney pots in place. Its angled design directs rainwater away from the base of the pots, preventing moisture from pooling and seeping into the brickwork below.

Good flaunching creates a watertight seal, protecting the chimney from water damage, frost erosion, and general wear. It also stabilises the pots against strong winds and movement. When flaunching becomes cracked or damaged, it can lead to loose pots, leaks, falling debris and internal damp or structural issues.

Keeping flaunching in good condition is essential for ensuring your chimney remains safe, weatherproof, and long-lasting.
